Mechanics of Machines

About the Subject:

The "mechanics" refers to skill in the practical application of an art or science, as well as relating to or caused by movement, physical forces, properties or agents such as is dealt with by mechanics. The principles of Mechanics are exactly applicable to machines, it may be a simple machine such as a liver or bicycle or a machine as complex as an aircraft. When Mechanics is applied in Engineering, design and analysis of mechanisms and machine, it is called as Engineering Mechanics. When bodies interact and forces act between them there are two possibilities, they may move or they may remain static.

Topics to be covered in this Seminar:

Kinematic of mechanics–velocity and acceleration polygons–cams– displacement diagrams-layout of plate cam profiles. Gears and Gear trains-Spur gear–law of toothed gearing–involute gearing–Interchangeable gears– Sliding and Rolling Friction angle–friction in threads–Friction Drives– Friction clutches–Force analysis–Dynamic Force Analysis–Inertia Forces and Inertia Torque-Balancing and Vibrarion–Balancing machines–free vibrations–Damped Vibration–Torsional vibration–Forced vibration– harmonic Forcing – Vibration solation.
